Listening to this after literal YEARS of having it on my TBR pile. Loving the story, the writing, the commentary on LOVE and the Sufi references so far. It’s already such a compelling story. Why did it take me so long to get to?? 

If you know me, you know I’m an optimist so I prefer to think that, even though this book has been out for over a decade (🙈) this is the perfect time for me because everything happens for a reason 😆

PS Having listened to a little more I have a tip, if you’ve tried to read it and given up…

As literary fiction, it isn’t driven by a strong plot so it is harder to take in than mainstream, more commercial, books. Listening on Audio, while doing something else at the same time has kept me interested…It is full of historical commentary, interesting anecdotes and inspirational quotes.

(Confession: I think it would have been hard to get through if I was reading not listening! I’m always multi-tasking, and often read 2-3 books at the same time. Because this is exquisitely beautiful writing, that sometimes takes time to sink in, unfortunately, it would’ve been difficult to stay with it!)
